Veteran politician and former Labor Party leader Shelly Yachimovich announced this week that she is stepping back from politics for an unspecified amount of time.  After spending 13 years as a Knesset member, Yachimovich said that it was “time for a break,” explaining that “at least for the time being, I’ve exhausted my effectiveness in politics.”

KAN's Naomi Segal asked Colette Avital, a former Labor Party MK who later shifted to Meretz, and who currently serves as international secretary of that party, for her reaction to Yachimovich's departure; and how she sees the broader developments in the center-left political bloc ahead of the September elections.
