IDF and police forces on Monday demolished 10  illegally built Palestinian structures, containing 72 housing units, near Sur Baher in East Jerusalem. Though located beyond Jerusalem municipal borders, the buildings are close to the security fence, where Israel has prohibited construction citing security concerns. The Palestinian Authority said the area is under its auspices and that it had issued proper permits for the construction. The European Union called on Israel to halt the demolitions, which Israel's High Court ruled could go ahead.

Aviv Tatarsky, a researcher at Ir Amim, an Israeli NGO that works to make Jerusalem more equitable for its Israeli and Palestinian residents, told KAN's Naomi Segal that the number of units that were razed is unprecedented.
