Likud MKs and ministers who signed the petition pledging loyalty to Benjamin Netanyahu  were quick to say, in closed-door meetings, that the document had no legal weight and it was meant to allay Netanyahu’s fear of a scenario of a unity government being formed without him.

Yisrael Beiteinu Chair Avigdor Lieberman this morning attacked Netanyahu and wrote on Facebook: “The disgraceful collection of signatures by the Likud onto a loyalty oath, North Korea style, attests to Netanyahu’s complete lack of trust in his fellow party members.”

Veteran Likud central committee member and Netanyahu loyalist Mordechai Taub told KAN's Mark Weiss the loyalty pledge was not a good idea.
