Israeli officials are furious in wake of the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court in The Hague’s statement that there were grounds to open an investigation into suspicions that Israeli actions in Gaza and the West Bank constituted war crimes.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said, “This is a dark day for truth and justice,” asserting that “the decision has turned the International Criminal Court into another political weapon in the war to delegitimize the State of Israel.”

Mark Weiss spoke with Alan Baker, an Israeli expert in international law and the former legal advisor to the foreign ministry about the ICC decision.
