Knesset speaker Yuli Edelstein of the Likud met on Sunday with the chair of the parliamentary arrangements committee, Blue and White MK Avi Nissenkoren, after the Knesset legal adviser deemed there is no legal impediment to immediately moving forward with proceedings on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's request for immunity from the corruption charges against him. In a separate development, the High Court ruled last week dismissed a petition on whether a lawmaker facing charges that bear moral turpitude can be tasked with forming a coalition. KAN reporter Naomi Segal spoke about Netanyahu's immunity request and the court decision with Hebrew University Prof. Yuval Shany, Vice President of Research at the Israel Democracy Institute.
