A British teenager has been given a four-month suspended sentence after being found guilty of lying about gang-rape by Israeli teenagers in Cyprus.

The 19-year-old hugged her family and left court weeping after she was sentenced for public mischief.

Her sentence was suspended for three years, and she has been ordered to pay €148 in legal fees.

The woman's lawyer, said she will return to the UK and would appeal the sentence.

Womens' rights groups, including a large delegation from Israel, gathered outside the court ahead of the sentencing to show their support.They chanted ….. "Cyprus justice, shame on you", "Stop blaming the victim" and "You are not alone".

KAN's Mark Weiss asked one of the Israeli protestors, Orit Sulitzeanu,the executive director of the Association of Rape Crisis Centers in Israel, why she traveled to Cyprus.
