The Yisrael Beiteinu party has urged the attorney general to open an incitement investigation into Sephardic Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef over his remarks describing immigrants from the former Soviet Union as, among other things,  "religion-hating gentiles." Yosef, for his part, said his statements had been distorted by interested political figures who have been inciting for many months against Judaism and Jewish law.

The chief rabbi's comments drew widespread criticism, including from Rabbi Seth Farber, director of Itim – The Jewish Life Advocacy Center. He spoke to KAN reporter Naomi Segal.
