Last year over 200 thousand tons of agricultural produce went down the drain because of a lack of farm laborers to harvest it. In addition to this three out of four farmers say they suffered from agricultural theft and its driving more and more Israelis to abandon farming. This according to a report by Hashomer Hachadash, a social educational organization whose goal is to assist farmers and ranchers in Israel. Yoel Zilberman, the CEO and founder, says Israel’s farmers suffer 330 million dollars every year from agriculture crime. He said they are helping with over 100,000 volunteers from Israel and abroad lending a hand last year alone.
