The ministry of culture announced this week that theaters and other cultural institutions could reopen in mid-June under social distancing rules, such as keeping two seats empty between audience members. Heads of cultural centers said that the resumption of shows under these restrictions are economically unfeasible, and government support is needed to compensate for revenue losses from limited attendance.

Members of the performing arts community protested this week at theaters, museums and sites around the country against being forced out of work by the coronavirus pandemic. Among those who participated in and spoke at the protest at the Haifa Theater was award-winning screen and stage actress Asi Levi. KAN's Naomi Segal spoke with her about the protest and the outlook for the arts community, first asking how she was affected by these past few months.
