Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas announced in a meeting of the Palestinian leadership  in Ramallah that the Palestinians were no longer bound by the agreements with Israel and the United States, including the security agreements.

He said that Israel had essentially nullified the Oslo Accords by making statements about its intention to annex Jewish settlements and the Jordan Valley.

KAN's Mark Weiss asked Dr Ronni Shaked, a research fellow at the Harry S. Truman  Institute for the Advancement of Peace at Jerusalem's Hebrew University, if we should take the statements by President Abbas seriously.
