Another malfunction on the Leviathan natural gas rig ignited a fireball that could be seen from the shore. No dangerous pollution was recorded, but environmentalists are warning that the offshore rig, run by Nobel Energy, was prone to mishaps. Moshe Barak, an activist in the Homeland Guard Association, an environmental organization, said the secrecy surrounding the mishaps was cause of concern. He told reporter Arieh O’Sullivan that Nobel Energy was under-insured and that the risks were not only to Israel’s environment but also to our national water supply.
