An Israeli animated short, "Cinema Rex," has won the best children's film award at the prestigious Annecy festival in France, the first time an independent Israeli production has won at the festival. The film, set around the legendary Rex Cinema during the British mandate period, tells the story of a friendship that grows between a Jewish boy and an Arab girl over their shared passion for film. KAN's Naomi Segal heard more about the project from its directors, Mayan Engelman and Eliran Peled.
