In the wake of the latest reported cases of toddler abuse in daycare frameworks,  Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called for advancing legislation advance legislation in the Knesset to make the punishment for such crimes more severe. The National Council for the Child said that while the prime minister's declaration conveys an important message, it is not enough to pass another law, when existing legislation intended to prevent such abuse from happening has been held up by the government or is not implemented. The council said that alongside advancing harsher punishment for abuse, the prime minister must ensure that resources are allocated for implementation of law for supervision of early childhood framework, and to prevent postponing of implementation of the camera law, as the finance ministry seeks.
