Secret papers from the government of Gold Meir in the late 1960s have revealed that Israel had worked to encourage the emigration of some 60,000 Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to the South American country of Paraguay by paying them in a scheme that would have costs dozens of millions of dollars. KAN REPORTER Eran Cicurel, who hosts the International hour, uncovered the papers. He found that Israel had assured that Paraguay had obligated to give them residency and after five years citizenship. Ultimately, the scheme was only very partially carried out with just 30 Gazans emigrating to Paraguay.
