As the world marks International Vegan Day, a survey found almost one in ten residents of Tel Aviv are Vegan or vegetarian. The survey also found that over a third of meat-eaters have reduced their meat consumption during the past year. Tel Aviv-Yafo’s innovative “new Israeli” cuisine has adapted to this and has seen a rapid emergence of vegan culinary options for all those lovers of plant-based food. Reporter Arieh O’Sullivan spoke with Ori Shavit, food journalist and blogger and author of the cookbook My Vegan Kitchen, about Veganism in Israel.
