Arab political parties in Israel have traditionally put the Palestinian cause at the top of their agenda, but increasing distress in their communities - including spiraling violence and crime, housing problems and the spread of the coronavirus – has some of their leaders engaging with the governing coalition for support. Eran Singer, a commentator at KAN specializing in the Arab community in Israel, said this has put cracks in the Joint List of Arab parties. He predicted to reporter Arieh O’Sullivan that the moves would likely lead to the breakup of the Joint List.
