Alongside the rollout of vaccines to counter the coronavirus pandemic, headway is being made in research on existing drugs that can be used to treat COVID-19, significantly reducing its severity from a devastating disease to a far more manageable respiratory cold. Research spearheaded by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem has gathered early clinical evidence demonstrating the efficacy of an existing cholesterol lowering drug in treating COVID-19.
