Prof. Ronit Calderon-Margalit of the Hebrew University – Hadassah Braun School of Public Health and Community Medicine said the disappointing effect of the five-week closure was due to a lax enforcement of the lockdown and fatigue in the public. She told reporter Arieh O’Sullivan that it was a sign of a failure by the government not to impose selective lockdowns according to the traffic light plan. She added that Israel could not reach herd immunity if children were not eventually vaccinated too.
