The latest polls show that the left wing, social- democratic liberal Meretz party risks not passing the electoral threshold and getting into the Knesset. Prof. Gideon Rahat, a Senior Fellow at the Israel Democracy Institute, said Meretz had become a fringe party because it failed to adopt a greater cause, such as the environment, and became an unsustainable party of marginal issues. He spoke with reporter Arieh O’Sullivan.
