Research by the School of Dental Medicine at Tel Aviv University has found that excessive use of smartphones and social media was likely to lead to teeth-grinding and facial muscle pain. Reporter Arieh O’Sullivan spoke with one of the researchers, Dr. Pessia Friedman-Rubin, a dentist from the Tel Aviv University Medical School and the head of the oral facial pain unit, who said that the cultural changes in society during the coronavirus restrictions, was exacerbating the situation. She said that “excessive” use varied but was between 7 to 10 hours a day.
