Hapoel Jerusalem, the first fan-owned club in Israel, has won promotion to the Premier League, after 21 long years.

Following years of chronic mismanagement, a group of Hapoel Jerusalem fans broke away 14 years ago and set up their own club, Hapoel Katamon, with a distinct social outreach and anti-racist message.

Last year, Katamon fans voted to reunite with the old club and this weekend the reunited Hapoel Jerusalem clinched promotion to the top league after a 2-nil victory at Teddy stadium over third-placed Nes Ziona.

KAN's Mark Weiss spoke with Daphne Goldschmidt, one of the leading figures behind the fan-owned club.
