Israel has reacted angrily to the decision by the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) to launch an investigation against it for alleged war crimes.

The decision followed the 11 days of fighting between Israel and Hamas in May that left more than 250 people dead, the vast majority of them Palestinians, including more than 60 children.

Prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu said: “The shameful decision is yet another example of the UNHRC’s blatant anti-Israel obsession. Once again, an immoral automatic majority at the council whitewashes a genocidal terrorist organization that deliberately targets Israeli civilians while turning Gaza’s civilians into human shields.”

KAN's Mark Weiss spoke with Jerusalem lawyer Nick Kaufman, a counsel at the International Criminal Court at the Hague, about the allegations of war crimes against Israel.
