Israel's public hospitals are facing an acute budget crisis after additional funds promised by the treasury earlier this year have still not been transferred.

The public hospitals Shaare Zedek, Hadassah, Laniado, Mayanei Hayeshua and three hospitals located in Nazareth – seven hospitals and medical centers in total – have suspended payments to suppliers and salaries to staff have also been hit.

Reporter Mark Weiss spoke with Professor Jonathan Halevy, President of Jerusalem’s Shaare Zedek medical center.
