A decade after the social protests of 2011, a new survey has found that a large majority of Israelis – 71 percent – believe that civil protest can have an impact on government policy in Israel. While 54 percent of respondents held the view that the social, or tent, protest movement of 2011 failed to achieve its goals; a near identical majority, 56 percent, estimate that the Balfour protests of 2020-2021 did succeed. KAN reporter Naomi Segal heard more about the findings from Prof Tamar Hermann, Director of the Viterbi Family Center for Public Opinion and Policy Research at the Israel Democracy Institute, which conducted the survey.
