From Sunday, Israelis aged 60 and above will be eligible to receive a booster shot of the coronavirus vaccine. The third shot will be administered at least five months after an individual received the second shot. At this stage, the booster is not approved for those who recovered from coronavirus or for younger people with risk factors. The decision follows health ministry data indicating that the vaccine's effectiveness in preventing infection and serious illness wanes as time passes. Prior to the announcement of the decision, KAN reporter Naomi Segal spoke with Prof. Manfred Green, a professor of public health and epidemiology in the School of Public Health at the University of Haifa.
