Monday marked the 40th anniversary of Iran's 1979 Islamic Revolution - Iranians took to the streets across the country to commemorate the official dissolution of the Pahlavi dynasty, renewing their allegiance to the country's Islamic principles at a time of rising economic and political pressure.

KAN's Mark Weiss asked Dr. Soli Shahvar, head of Haifa University's EZRI Center for Iranian and Persian Gulf Studies, if people thought the revolution was the start of an Islamic Republic that would last 40 years.
