The Central Elections Committee will this week rule on petitions asking to disqualify the candidacies of Michael Ben Ari and Itamar Ben Gvir, whose extremist Otzma Yehudit party is running in the elections for the 21st Knesset on a shared slate with the Jewish Home and National Union parties.

One of the petitions was filed by the Israel Religious Action Center on behalf of the Reform Movement and Tag Meir activist group. The petition notes that Ben Ari and Ben Gvir view themselves as heirs of Rabbi Meir Kahane, whose political party Kach was outlawed in the 1990s. KAN's Naomi Segal heard more about the appeal from attorney Orly Erez-Likhovski, Director of the Legal Department at the Israel Religious Action Center.
