Sixteen Israelis have been chosen to light 12 torches, representing the 12 tribes of Israel, at the Mount Herzl ceremony that marks the transition from Israel's Remembrance Day for fallen soldiers and victims of terror, to its 71st Independence Day celebrations. This year's theme is "Saluting the Israeli spirit," and the Israelis chosen to light the torches were selected for personifying those "who have overcome difficulties against all odds."

Among them is Dr. Hila Hadas, CEO of Enosh – the Israeli Mental Health Association.  Hadas, who faced the loss of both her husband and a daughter to cancer in a span of several years, has been a determined advocate for those struggling with challenges. She spoke with KAN's Naomi Segal ahead of Wednesday's ceremony.
