Boy contracts brain-eating amoeba in the Sea of Galilee
9-year-old Baruch Neriya from Pardes Hanna has been hospitalized in serious condition at Rambam Hospital in Haifa, suffering from brain inflammation after contracting a brain-eating amoeba.
Suspicion arose that it was an amoeba infection, based on the clinical description, laboratory findings and history of exposure to the Sea of Galilee water.
